I Agreed with Elder Renlund’s Statements

I actually agree with LDS Apostle Dale Renlund’s statements at General Conference (October 2022). Elder Renlund’s talk “A Framework for Personal Revelation” had a segment that, as a non-Mormon Evangelical Christian, I wholeheartedly agreed with.

Renlund explained that when personal revelation conflicts with previously given revelation – that personal revelation may be unreliable. When we ask for clarity on things God has already spoken about, we can open ourselves up to false spirits. I completely agree – and think that if this idea were used consistently, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints would not exist!

God has spoken to us in the Bible, and if modern Mormon prophets reveal things CONTRARY to what God has already revealed, they are shown to be false prophets. We WANT for Mormons to test newer revelation and LDS Prophets against what God has previously said—this is how we can determine true and false prophets.
