The Archaeology of the Assyrian Conquest

If the Bible is God’s Word, then everything the Bible asserts must necessarily be true—including the historical events recorded throughout the 66 books of Holy Scripture. If such recorded events were actual historical happenings, then we should also expect to find archaeological evidence that corroborates the Biblical story.

In this video, Chip Thompson of the Solid Rock Cafe in Ephraim, Utah gives a presentation defending the miraculous events surrounding Assyria’s conquest in the 700s BC through the archaeological evidence. The Solid Rock Cafe in Ephraim contains a Bible History museum, filled with historical artifacts from the Middle East. These artifacts support the biblical narrative.

In the Biblical account, Assyria was turned away from Jerusalem because God intervened, killing hundreds of thousands of Assyrian soldiers and turning the Assyrian army back towards Nineveh. When we look at the extra-biblical evidence, we find that this story matches up perfectly with the archeological evidence that we have.

God has preserved His Word and accurately communicated all that He desires for His people to know. When we look at the historical evidence, we find that it totally supports the Biblical account.

Special thanks to Chip Thompson from the Solid Rock Cafe in Ephraim, Utah! He’s put together a GREAT Bible Museum in the coffee shop. If you’re ever in the area, be sure to stop by and take a look at all the artifacts!
