PART 2: Response to Renlund’s April 2022 Conference Talk

LDS Apostle Dale Renlund gave a talk titled “Your Divine Nature and Eternal Destiny” during General Conference in April 2022. The topic of his talk was the Young Women’s Theme, which outlines the fundamental elements of the LDS faith and doctrine. Yet, does the Young Women’s Theme (and Renlund’s commentary on it) match up with what the Bible teaches?

In this video, Bradley, Garrett, and Luke Wayne (of CARM.org) evaluate this General Conference talk and compare the teachings against what the Bible teaches. (This video is part 2 of our response to this April 2022 Conference Talk.) Renlund speaks of the need to “qualify for exaltation,” and we examine whether this statement aligns with what Scripture teaches….or not.

Followers of Jesus are commanded to “test everything, and hold fast to what is good.” It’s important for everyone who believes in Jesus to TEST anyone who claims to be a prophet or apostle by evaluating their teachings against what the Bible commands.

LDS YOUNG WOMEN’S THEME: “I am a beloved daughter of heavenly parents, with a divine nature and eternal destiny. As a disciple of Jesus Christ, I strive to become like Him. I seek and act upon personal revelation and minister to others in His holy name. I will stand as a witness of God at all times and in all things and in all places. As I strive to qualify for exaltation, I cherish the gift of repentance and seek to improve each day. With faith, I will strengthen my home and family, make and keep sacred covenants, and receive the ordinances and blessings of the holy temple.”
