LDS Temples: Why Veils and Sacrifices Are A Real Problem

At the open house for the LDS Temple in Pocatello, a couple of guys from our team went up to talk with Latter-day Saints about their new temple and the Gospel of Grace. One of the signs we had asked the question “Do we still need a temple?” Many Latter-day Saints were quick to respond—”Yes!” Yet many people had no clue WHY Christians disagreed with this. Christians not only believe we no longer NEED modern temples, but also that Mormon Temples are dishonoring to God.

So, we decided to quickly film a video going over just a couple reasons why all the new LDS Temples being put up are displeasing to God. God completely fulfilled the need for a modern temple by sending Jesus to die on the cross. Jesus now gives us access to God (He is our SINGLE mediator), and He is our once-for-all sacrifice, cleansing us from our sins if we believe in Him.

The LDS Church continues to build temples that not only undermine the nature of Jesus and His Word, but that undermine the Gospel itself. If I must go into a temple to have eternal life (exaltation), then temple works become a necessary prerequisite for eternal life. Yet Jesus was quite clear: “Whoever BELIEVES in Him will not perish, but shall have eternal life” (John 3:16).

“Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.” (Hebrews 10:19-22).
